Resource - Vehicle Types
First, you start with the vehicle types used within the business.
Creating a Vehicle Type
As you may have more than one of any type of vehicle, creating types first allows you to group, sort and filter on particular types of vehicles such as, bike trailers, or 11 seater shuttles.
Click the Vehicle Types button from the Vehicle Menu
To add a new vehicle type
- From the Main Menu | Resources | Vehicles | Vehicles Types screen
or
- the Main Menu | Administrator | Settings | Vehicle type menu,
click the + Vehicle Type button
- Enter a name for this Vehicle Type in the Vehicle Type Description field, e.g. Passenger car, or 11 Seater Van
- Enter a Shortcode to be used for this Vehicle Type, e.g. Car, Van11
- Choose a Sort Order for this Vehicle type. The sort order determines the placement of this item in dropdown menu list when choosing a vehicle type. e.g. Entering a sort order of 1 puts the item at the top of the drop down list.
Having a sort order beside each item also enables you to group together items that logically belong together, e.g. all vans could have a sort order in the range of 21-30, and all bike trailers could have a sort order in the range of 31-40.
The status of the Vehicle type can be changed from Active to Archived or Deleted if the item is no longer in use
Where are Vehicle types used?
A vehicle type is used when adding vehicles to your fleet, to group them into categories
