Locations


The details from the Master have pre-populated this screen with each day, the date, the starting district and the end district.   


  • Daily locations are used in the commentary in the Itinerary, and in the Ody Trips app
  • Daily locations are the start and end locations for each day of the adventure.  Storing these shortens location / date based drop-down lists, so that only relevant options are presented to the person making the reservation.   This reduces scrolling time for reservations staff to find e.g. a specific Provider, if needing to change one - because rather than needing to trawl through all (countrywide) providers, the Provider drop down list is narrowed down to only the providers on this Daily Location.  
  • The Daily Locations tab also enables you to add extra days to the duration of your client's adventure, either at the beginning, middle, or end of the trip.  Add a "minus day" e.g. "Day -1" to the start of the trip, if the client wants a shuttle transfer or a night's accommodation booked the night before the adventure starts - this has the advantage of leaving the Day 1 as the actual start date of the adventure.

To  add another day to this departure

  • Click on the green + button underneath the last day number, and a dropdown list will appear.  
  • Choose the next appropriate  'Day' number from the list.  
  • Ensure the number of days listed here matches the number of days field on the Departure | Details | General tab.  

Location Start ➞ Location End

  • These fields are purely for Client communication, for example it can be used on client facing itineraries or email communications with clients. e.g. the to and from Regions could be entered here, so that email comms say, "We hope you have enjoyed your trip from West Coast to Marlborough".
  • These fields do not effect any data filtering.

Distance

  • Use the double arrow button to have Odyssey populate the distance field, between each location.  This information is used in the itinerary communications with the client. 
  • Based on the Location names and their Latitude / Longitude values, the Google Maps API Distance calculation will populate the 'Cycling' & 'Metric' (road) distance between these two points. 
  • Note that this field is editable, so it is possible to replace any of these distances with different values, if that is required - for example, you could enter the number of k's on the cycle trail between these two points, not the road distance.

Accommodation

Whatever accommodation has been booked (at booking level) for each date will automatically display here, up to two providers on each date. 

This field is being used to provide Depot level screens and reports a summary of which providers are being used on this departure.


The accommodation providers will display on the Itinerary, alongside the Daily locations



Update from Master

If you have messed up this Tour's Daily Content tab, and wish to start again with the original content from the Master, click the Update from Master button.  


Change Day -1 to Day 1

  • If you want to increase the day number of every day in your Tour, click the Change Day -1 to Day 1 button on the Tour | Daily Content tab.  
  • You will be prompted to confirm that you do wish to move all day numbers forward by one day.  Click OK if you wish to proceed.  
  • Every day number on the tour will increase by 1.  The dates of the trip do not change.
