Masters - what are they and how do they work

A Master is a template which is based on the products you sell and list on your website.  A master contains all of the default settings/selections/costs that can be reused for subsequent Departures (or Tours/Trips, whatever your word for this is).

A master is the second tier in Odyssey's data structure pyramid.

  • Masters have numerous settings which are seasonally based, so that changes can be catered for over different seasons. eg: Providers being used, Activities offered.

  • Masters are typically for multi day tours, but can also be designed for walk-in /over the counter sales.

  • Note that choices defined in a Master can be overridden when making a [Departure/Trip] based on that master

Each Odyssey client maintains their own list of Masters, which are based on the top tier of their data structure.

A master is seasonal, and contains sections for Details, Daily Content, Finance, Resources, Suppliers, Movements, Day by Day, and Email Fields

Some Masters can be defined as a Bundle Master.

A Bundle Master contains content for just one or maybe two days of a client's tour; it's like a subset of a master.  The bundle master might contain content for just one day's worth of movements, activity providers, meals, and accommodation. A bundle Master is designed to be inserted into a tour, in order to build a bespoke tour for that client.
