Departure - Set up Daily Directions
Daily directions can be incoroproated into communications with your clients in many ways.
If you wish to include daily turn by turn riding instructions for email communications with the client, unique daily UrLS for Ride with GPS can be added on each daily recording on the Daily Map Route pin on the right hand side. Alternatively, one Master Ride with GPS URL containing all the daily links can be included on the Email Fields settings.
A " Directions" document can be provided to your clients as part of Odyssey's Paperwork offerings, and allows you to provide directional instructions to your client to successfully navigate from the Provider to the trail and vice versa. This document is available at Reservations and Depot level.
How to set up the Directions Document
Where does the text and images for the directions come from?
1. Depot information
This is pulled from Main Menu | Admin | Settings | Company Settings 2 | Trail | Depot
2. Briefing date and time
This comes from the Departure | Details | Depot tab
3. Welcome text and Footer text
This comes from your departure, on the Daily Directions tab. It can be edited and customised at this level for your departure. Initially this information was pulled through to the Departure/Trip from the Master Package.
4. District information
Comes from Main Menu | Admin | Settings | Company Settings | District
5. Daily information
This information comes from your Departure/Trip, on the Daily Directions tab. It can be edited and customised at this level for your departure. Initially this information was pulled through to the Departure/Trip from the Master Package.
The idea here is that you can enter text which describes how to get from this town/district to the trail - it is optional for you to use.
6. Provider directions information
The Directions between this Provider and the trail, and the map image come from the Main Menu | Provider | Movements | Notes tab, using the Notes - Directions field. Click the camera icon to include a map image.
How to print a Directions Document
- From any Departure, click the Paperwork | Daily Directions option
- or at Depot level, from the Details tab, click on Daily Directions from the Paperwork drop down list
- Click Departure
This brings you to a view of your document, where it can now be customised to suit the specific needs of this departure!
To customise the Daily Directions document
- Text fields can be clicked into directly to edit text to make it more relevant to your client's adventure, or to expand/condense space to improve the look of the document
- When you reach the section of the daily directions document where each day's providers are listed, the layout changes to a "carousel" style
- Navigate to each daily item by clicking on the right or left arrows, or zoom ahead by clicking on one of the grey dots. Each daily item can be shown or hidden, provider text modified, time changed, notes and labels edited.
- Click on the pencil button to edit any text field
Previewing and Storing the document
To Preview the document
When you are happy with the content of the document, Click the Preview button to view what the compiled, printed document will look like:
- The preview of the document will open in a new browser tab

- Click the printer icon in the top right hand corner to print the document if required
- Close the browser tab when you have finished viewing it, and navigate back to your Odyssey tab

The document can now be stored
- Click the Store button
- You will be advised that this has been done, and the date of the last "store" is recorded in grey text on the button
- Once the document is stored, it can be attached to emails and sent to the client
